Biography of the author Claudio Gallini

The author Claudio Gallini was born in Piacenza in 1976, he's an industrial expert and researcher of his roots deeply rooted in the districts of Groppallo and Centenaro, in the upper Nure valley, in the province of Piacenza.

This is the land of origin of his parents and where he has spent, since birth, carefree moments and at the same time it is the place where he recognizes that there is the real basis of his identity.

He dedicated his first literary work to the village of Coletta of Groppallo, his mother's birthplace, with the reconstruction of the history and traditions transmitted by local families (Antico Borgo Coletta, Ediprima, Piacenza, 2009).

The aim of his studies is aimed at giving a stimulus through the cultural revaluation of the mountain territory, digging deep into its history, in particular giving light to unknown sites as was the case, for example, with the now disappeared castle of Boli in district of Groppallo, (Il castello di Boli, Tip.Le.Co., Piacenza, 2010).

The writing of a research on the eighteen oratories located in the Groppallo area allowed the author to demonstrate a notable growth, attested above all by the appreciation received after the publication of the work (Gli oratori di Groppallo, LIR, Piacenza, 2013).

His commitment to the valorisation of these places does not stop only on paper and books but is a constant collaboration with local associations and with the parish of Groppallo, which is remembered for the drafting of the digital video biography that Gallini wanted to dedicate to his friend and parish priest of Groppallo, Don Gianrico Fornasari, who passed away prematurely in January 2014, (Ciao Gianrico, LIR, Piacenza, 2014).

In 2015 in the first edition and in 2016 in the second publication again for the publisher LIR, the author published his first major work dedicated to the Groppallino's dialect, through the collection in a dictionary of over eight thousand dialectal headwords of the vernacular spoken in the upper Nure valley, enjoying considerable success and obtaining numerous recognitions and appreciations both from the linguistic world (the dictionary is present on the shelves of the prestigious Library of the Accademia della Crusca in Florence), and from the local cultural world, (Maràssa and Curiàtta, the first dialect dictionary groppallino, LIR, Piacenza, 2015).

The important linguistic study mentioned above was later supported by a feature film entitled “Õn tòc ad légn sùta u bràs”, confirming, through targeted interviews, the full uniformity of the morphological characteristics of the “patuà” spoken in the groppallino, (Õn tòc ad légn sùta u bràs, Piacenza, LIR, Piacenza, 2017).

In 2018, coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the Municipality of Farini, Gallini was instead commissioned by his community to write the history of this territory which was the birthplace of all his loved ones, (Farini Storia, territorio e personalità, LIR, Piacenza, 2018).

In April 2021 Claudio Gallini published the solemn hymn to his Groppallo, demonstrating the strong centuries-old bond that this territory has with the Faith: “Groppallo e la sua chiesa, una storia unica”, which also boasts the merit of the significant preface by H.E. mgr. Gianni Ambrosio, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Piacenza.
